WGO is pleased to provide a recap of the guidelines projects that have taken place so far in 2015! The following guidelines were up-dated this past year: · Dysphagia, with updated transla-tions in Spanish and Portuguese · Esophageal Varices, with updated translations in Spanish, Portu-guese, Mandarin, and French · Hepatitis C, with updated transla-tions in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, and French · Hepatitis B, updated translations coming soon Later this year… A new Guideline – GERD – is in the final stages of review and will soon be ready for publication! This guideline is under the direction of Professors Richard Hunt (UK/Canada), David Armstrong (Canada), and Peter Kate-laris (Australia). We look forward to sharing this guideline with you soon! Under the guidance of Profes-sor Charles Bernstein (Canada), the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) guideline was recently updated and will be delivered for publication shortly! Additionally, guidelines on Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Celiac Disease are currently underway. WGO Guidelines Now Available on the JCG Website! The Journal of Clinical Gastroenterol-ogy (JCG), WGO’s official Journal, has so far published one of WGO’s recently updated Guidelines, with a second to soon be sent for publica-tion! Dysphagia, now with Cascades and available here, refers either to the difficulty someone may have with the initial phases of a swallow (usually de-scribed as “oropharyngeal dysphagia”) or to the sensation that foods and or liquids are somehow being obstructed in their passage from the mouth to the stomach (usually described as “esophageal dysphagia”). Dysphagia is thus the perception that there is an impediment to the normal passage of swallowed material. To download this guideline, click here!
