Khean-Lee Goh, MD
President
Asian Pacific Digestive Week Federation (APDWF) (2014-2018)
Vice President, WGO (2011-2015)
The Asian Pacific Digestive Week
Federation (APDWF) is comprised of
four non-profit professional organizations,
namely, the Asian Pacific Association
of Gastroenterology (APAGE),
the Asian-Pacific Society of Digestive
Endoscopy (A-PSDE), the Asian Pacific
Association for the Study of the
Liver (APASL) and the International
Society for Digestive Surgery-Asian
Pacific Section (ISDS-AP). These
societies have a common interest
in diseases of the digestive system,
including the esophagus, stomach,
liver, gallbladder, pancreas, intestine
and bowel.
The Federation organizes an annual
scientific meeting – Asian Pacific
Digestive Week (APDW) -- in collaboration
with the member societies.
The 2018 version of this meeting took
place from 15-17 November in Seoul,
Korea. I wish to congratulate and, at
the same time thank, the local organizing
committee headed by Congress
President Professor Won-Ho Kim for
the hard work they put in for the past
three years to realize such a successful
conference!
APDW 2018’s organizing committee
developed a comprehensive and
exciting scientific program under the
theme of “Connecting Excellence
on Gastroenterology and Hepatology
in Asia-Pacific.” This continued
the tradition of previous APDW
meetings while highlighting recent
developments in the field of digestive
disease in the rapidly developing
Asia Pacific region. APDW 2018
was held in conjunction with Korea
Digestive Disease Week 2018, hosted
by the eight member societies: The
Korean Society of Gastroenterology
(a WGO member), Korean Society of
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Korean
Association for the Study of the Liver,
The Korean Society of Neurogastroenterology
and Motility, Korean College
of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal
Research, Korean Association
for the Study of Intestinal Diseases,
Korean Pancreatobiliary Association,
and Korean Society of Gastrointestinal
Cancer. This is the first time
that these societies joined hands with
APDW Organizing Committee to
offer a diverse program that integrated
cutting-edge knowledge and advanced
technology in the research and clinical
practice of gastroenterology and hepatology
and their related fields.
In addition to providing a significant
platform for exchanging valuable
This continued the tradition
of previous APDW meetings
while highlighting recent
developments in the field
of digestive disease in the
rapidly developing Asia
Pacific region.
