ideas, APDW 2018 offered attendees,
exhibitors and sponsors a chance to
socialize and interact with colleagues
and friends from not only the Asia
Pacific region but also all parts of the
world. APDW 2018 brought innovation
and further advancement in the
scientific level and quality of the study

theme “Advancing Gastroenterology
and Hepatology through Creative Integration”

field of digestive diseases. The program
was a highly rewarding international
platform for every one of the participants,
and contributed to the enhancement
of the scientific level and quality
of our field.

About APDWF
The APDWF weaves together the
aims of four Asia Pacific Associations:
A-PSDE, APASL, APAGE and the
ISDS-AP in coming together on an
annual basis, to hold a combined scientific
meeting on fields where there is
intrinsically much shared and overlapping
knowledge, clinical practices and
research. In an age where there are
many small specialty meetings, the
APDW provides a unified platform in
organizing a common meeting in the
Asia Pacific, where we can meet with a
shared set of values in promoting the
practice and research in gastroenterology,
hepatology, gastrointestinal endoscopy
and gastrointestinal surgery.
But the success of the APDW also depends
very much on the contribution
of the component associations and
societies. To this end, all sister organizations
of the APDWF, must reflect
and represent fully, their respective
disciplines in a fair and democratic
way, such that their membership can
enjoy fully the fruits of our endeavor
in organizing an APDW.
The WGO has contributed to the
APDWs in a big way. In 2013, the
WGO organized the highly successful
World Congress of Gastroenterology
in conjunction with the APDW, held
in Shanghai from 21st-24th September
2013
The WGO continues to contribute
to all regional meetings with our partner
regional associations and societies.
A fine example of the contribution of
our partners is the World Gastroenterology
Organisation’s Distinguished
Global Lecture 2018 which focuses on
“global issues” in the particular region
of the world.
