known experts led attendees around
to posters of interest. This was a great
opportunity to discuss posters, garner
insight from the experts, and make
new contacts with other attendees
in a low-key, relaxed environment.
In addition to the presentations, the
educational opportunities the Friday
Courses, Postgraduate Course, and
the Scientific Meeting, were unparalleled.
The WCOG at ACG 2017
Scientific Program Committee, along
with the Postgraduate Course Directors,
and the Friday Course Directors,
and the coordinators of the hands on
program and other congress offerings,
brought together internationally
recognized experts and rising stars in
the field. The program delivered the
latest clinical updates in gastroenterology
and hepatology, plus discussion
of what is on the horizon that may
be impactful. Among the highlights
of this year’s scientific presentations
are significant findings and innovative
technologies for the prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of digestive
diseases and serious GI-related health
issues.
Given a large international presence,
especially from Latin America,
many sessions offered simultaneous
Spanish interpretation — a first for
a World Congress of Gastroenterology.
Simultaneous symposia sessions
were presented on topics such as
Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Glutenrelated
disorders, Hepatitis C Therapy,
IBD, Upper GI Tract Endosurgery,
Colorectal Cancer Screening and H.
pylori as well as Simultaneous plenary
sessions presenting on Liver, IBD,
