Likewise, we were able to hear topics
regarding emergent diseases and their
diagnostic challenges, such as small
intestine bacterial overgrowth, by Dr.
Ramón Carmona Sánchez and also an
overview of Hepatitis E infection in
Mexico, presented by Dr. Juan Miguel
Abdo Francis, complemented by topics
about other viral hepatitis.
In the module “Infections of the
biliary tract and pancreas” there was
an approach to the most important
infectious topics about these organs,
involving their treatment modalities,
with highlights on endoscopic
management, lectured by Dr. Aurelio
López Colombo. Speaking about
microorganisms, we could not miss
a module about cirrhosis, which
emphasized the impact of infections
in patients with this hepatic disease,
presented by Dr. José Antonio Velarde
Ruiz Velasco. Lastly, we heard topics
about the small intestine and colon,
ranging form functional disorders to
cancer, thus concluding this important
forum on gastroenterology.
Furthermore, the event introduced
the publication of a monographic
volume also called “XI Gastrotrilogy:
microorganisms in gastrointestinal
health and disease,” coordinated by
Dr. Aurelio López Colombo, president
of the Asociación Mexicana de
Gastroenterología, in collaboration
with other active members of the
association. This book was distributed
among the attendants in its physical
format, along with being available
online on the digital platforms of the
association.
