The Microbiota Hard Talks is a series of six medical educational activities endorsed by the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) and supported by an unrestricted medical educational grant from Biocodex France. The aim of The Microbiota Hard Talks is to provide medical education in the field of the human gut microbiota. These sessions offer the chance to join experts and like-minded colleagues from around the globe on state-of-the-art microbiota topics. Each session features a presentation by a renewed lecturer and includes a question and answer session.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)As part of World Digestive Health Day 2012, WGO developed a web-based educational program for the general public entitled “Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): What is it, what causes it and can I do anything about it?” Led by Professors Eamonn Quigley (USA), Richard Hunt (UK), Pali Hungin (UK), and Anton Emmanuel (UK), this webcast targets those common symptoms most associated with IBS and focuses, in particular, on an approach to educate the general public on issues related to this condition. Segment 1 focuses on “What is IBS” and “How to communicate symptoms to help the doctor make the right diagnosis.” In Segment 2 you will learn about “Progress in IBS” and “Could it be something else?” Segment 3 will look at “What can I do to deal with my symptoms?” and “How about diet and dietary supplements?”, and finally in Segment 4 “Managing IBS” and “Living with IBS” is discussed.
