World Digestive Health Day (WDHD) 2018

Join WGO to Help Lift the Global Burden of
Viral Hepatitis, B and C

Since 2005, the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) and the WGO Foundation (WGOF) have convened World Digestive Health Day (WDHD), a public health, advocacy and awareness campaign. WDHD, celebrated annually on 29th May and perpetuated throughout the year, focuses on a particular digestive or liver disorder and aims to put into perspective several aspects related to the focus including prevention, prevalence, diagnosis, management and treatment. The success of WDHD derives from the global participation of WGO Member Societies, WGO Training Centers, WGO Regional Affiliate Associations, and other WGO partners worldwide.

Campaign Information

The WDHD 2018 Campaign is titled "Viral Hepatitis, B and C: Lift the Global Burden". Dr. Yun-Fan Liaw (Taiwan) and Dr. Brian McMahon (USA) are the Co-Chairs of WDHD 2018. By participating in the campaign, you are helping to: 

• Advocate and raise awareness of Viral Hepatitis, B and C, most especially its management and the availability of treatment, in countries where the viruses are being newly or increasingly diagnosed.
• Inform physicians, pharmacists, allied health professionals, healthcare payers and the public of the prevalence, risk factors and causes of Viral Hepatitis, B and C.
• Educate through an evidence-based and patient-centered approach to the prevention and diagnosis of Viral Hepatitis, B and C.
